We the People

America, the beautiful,

land that I love.

Your stars are cutting me,

your stripes strangling me.

Our nation has recently reached unprecedented levels of emotion. Several months ago I consciously made a decision to do try best to not participate in the "debates" that were and have continued to take place primarily on the internet. But as I've sat here in silence, I've observed.

I crouch down to the ground,

weeping with Lady Liberty.

I've read countless threads where typically warm and kind humans speak with rage at each other. I've seen family members publicly announce that they were going to stop talking to each other. I've shook my head in complete disgust reading comments about the current and former president's wife and children. I've witnessed time and time again the argument of "I'm right, and you're stupid" take place. Guns are not the most dangerous weapon out there. Our words are. We the People, need to remember that.

As I stare through the night,

I seek proof our flag is still there.

We the People, have come too far as a country to allow for it to be so carelessly split apart. We have forgotten we are playing for the same team, The United States of America. Think about the last time you felt unified - that feeling of being connected, our entire nation once had that. I pray that we are not so far gone to never experience that as a country again.

But we take a deep breath,

and bring ourselves to our feet.

We the People, come from all different backgrounds, and walks of life. We the People have the freedom of choice when talking to our neighbors to either engage in a meaningful conversation, or in a malicious dispute. We the People, are capable having respectful and passionate debates. We the People, can approach that conversation with the openness and boldness to change our own stance. We the People, can be respectful of the person, without respecting the concept they support.

We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union need to begin with each other.

With our hands intertwined we walk,

towards one nation, indivisible.

Dana Podgurski

Hi everyone! I'm Dana Podgurski!

I'm a foot in the mouth, tongue in cheek, head in the clouds, and heart on the sleeve kind of gal. I live for new experiences, but am a total sucker for nostalgia at the same time. I'm tough as nails, but am a complete softie for all things kids and animal-related. I fly by the seat of my pants, and live for adventure. But I firmly believe that adventure is a mindset that one's self determines.

For work, I am a marketer through and through. Bringing brands to life, and content marketing are passions of mine. Many would consider what I do as nerdy, but I seriously dig it. I have been doing marketing contract work for years, and appreciate the variety it brings, and the relationships I've developed with my clients. If you're interested in a partnership, click here.

For fun, I love to create - writing/blogging, photography, and painting are my main three mediums of doing so. Feeling good and healthy is also high on my list, as it really lends itself to making everything more enjoyable. So I maintain a very active lifestyle, eat pretty healthy, and am outdoors as much as I can be. And if my blog didn't make it abundantly clear, I absolutely LOVE to travel (near and far) and go on adventures. I spend any extra money I have on tickets and feel so fortunate to have been to several amazing destinations both domestically and internationally. There's nothing more fulfilling than coming home from a trip and adding a been-there-pin to my map.

Cheers!

Dana
