Life Sure Moves Fast
Where do I even begin? The frequency with which I post blogs is a good indicator of how busy and wonderful life has been. I’m shaking my head, realizing that our son is turning two in just a week. He is the brightest aspect of my life. It is bewildering to watch him become his own person. I savor every cuddle he gives me but also love seeing him find new ways of gaining independence.
Brett has been settling into his new (promoted) role at work. It’s really incredible to see him find his stride as a leader. I’m so proud of what he’s accomplished and how far he’s come in such a short timeframe.
As far as work goes, I’ve been doing contract work full-time. I made a major career change and left behind luxury real estate and switched to CPG for a Fortune 500 company that I’ve been with for several months now. It’s been an incredibly humbling journey to start from scratch. Oftentimes I feel like the dumbest person in the room, but I know that my brain is getting stretched in all the right ways. The people I work with are brilliant, talented, and so.much.fun. I genuinely look forward to interacting with them in and out of the office. The icing on the cake are the iconic brands and cool projects I’ve gotten to be involved with. I’m so grateful to be where I’m at.
We are also in the midst of finalizing our 3-years-later wedding plans! Our original plans were canceled due to COVID-19, and then I went to grad school and had a baby. So here we are three years later. Now we’re set to have our wedding celebration (technically we’re already married) at the end of September. Things are coming together, and we are beyond excited to have our closest friends and family there. It’ll be a small wedding of about 50 people. Since our friends and family are so spread out, no matter where we picked to have our wedding, it would have been a destination for most. So, we opted for the most special place on this planet to us, Bermuda. It’ll be an adults-only (with the exception of our son) celebration and can’t wait to cut loose on the dance floor!
To fit into my wedding dress that I bought back in 2019, well before I became pregnant with our son, I hired a personal trainer. Since June, I have been going about twice per week for 30 minute sessions. The results have been mind-blowing. Not only have I slimmed down and toned my muscles, but I’ve also improved the strength and balance of my right knee which I injured while I was pregnant, and my overall mental health has been so much better. I would have thought I’d need to go to the gym at least 5 days per week to get the results I’ve gotten. While I won’t continue personal training after the wedding (it’s too expensive, although cheaper than me buying a new wedding dress), I do plan to continue to lift weights and apply what I’ve learned on my own the best that I can.
Traveling this year has been amazing. I feel like I’ve been making up for lost time (Covid, pregnancy, and then having a baby put traveling on pause for a little while). Each place deserves its own post, but Brett and I visited Cabo, Amalfi (Italy), and Dublin together. I also had my bachelorette party in Montreal the other weekend. It’s safe to say that my passion for travel has been reignited. Next year, we will focus on traveling within the US as there are a number of places we want to explore here. Plus, we will need to replenish our piggy banks from all the fun this year. :)
